Mosaics are an ancient artform that have been used for centuries to adorn buildings. Modern mosaics can be both decorative and functional and break away from traditional rules!

Whether you are a beginner, or more experienced, this course is for you. We use a range of tesserae in the studio, from ceramic and glass tiles, to Smalti, polymer clay and crockery. Your teacher has over 5 years experience teaching mosaics, working with students at different levels (and over 20 years experience teaching art).

Basic tools, adhesives and grout are supplied (specialised equipment/ adhesives/ tiles/ substrates will be brought by students). Some tiles and glass will be available for purchase.

Beginners will be given a substrate and a basic selection of tiles for their first project, unless you have a project in mind!

After the first project is completed (this will take several weeks), subsequent tiles, substrate and ideas are provided by you (don’t worry, plenty of creative and practical support is available to guide you through!) Grout, common adhesives are supplied by the studio and tools will still be available to use.

Closed in shoes to be worn at all times.

This class is for students with some art experience that want to develop basic drawing and/or painting skills, learn about different art materials, mixed media techniques and develop their own style.

Some materials supplied. Students will be given a list of materials on enrolment to purchase for each term and require some basics (acrylic paints, sketchbook, 2b pencils). This can be discussed before class begins.

Drawing is fundamental to all visual arts. Drawing can also be a ‘way in’ to art for beginners and it is very accessible. We start at the very beginning with drawing fundamentals in the first term then move on to colour theory, colour mixing and acrylic painting techniques in the following term.
This class is open to beginners and intermediate students that want to revisit the basics in drawing, painting and mixed media - or perhaps all of the above! Work on a mix of teacher led and personally developed projects and exercises.

Mixed Media is such an exciting way to create. There are always new techniques and combinations to explore. This class will open up new ways of working in water based media, from acrylic and acrylic mediums to collage, printmaking and drawing media. We will try new approaches every term. There will be time to work on individual projects too, or projects guided by the teacher.

This class is open to beginners and more experienced creatives. It is a friendly and supportive class where you can develop a range of art skills. An individual program can be developed to fit your personal goals and there will also be exercises and activities to encourage play and experiment with a variety of media. Students can try different approaches to artmaking whilst discovering their own style.
